Just one year ago when Tree of Wisdom began, our beads were being created by a small group of women at St. Monica’s in Gulu, Uganda. In just one year we have increased the number of women making beads by about 30. The women from Gulu were kind enough to travel 2 hours north to a small town called Atiak near the border of Sudan to teach the women there their craft. Wisdom Beads are giving women who otherwise have no support, the ability to become self-relient. All proceeds from the sale of Wisdom Beads goes directly back to the women making the beads and the Tree of Wisdom orphans. Thank you for supporting these women!!

20 years of rebel insurgency has left the youth of Northern Uganda in terrible crisis. The mission of St. Monica Girls’ Tailoring Centre in Gulu, Uganda is to give vocational training to young women victimized by this war. After being in the captivity of the rebels, the young women who manage to escape have no place to go. Many of them are child mothers. The sisters at St. Monica’s welcome these young women, provide them with food and shelter, help make them self-reliant, and teach them to love again.
Wisdom beads are their handiwork. They are rolled from small strips of discarded paper, varnished, dried, and then made into beautiful jewelry. The beads are being sold for an ongoing fundraiser for the young women at St Monica’s and for special needs for the Tree of Wisdom orphans. Many of you have already seen the beautiful necklaces, bracelets and rosaries. For further information about St. Monica’s Girls’ School, please go to www.stmonicagulugirlsrelief.org
We currently have a beautiful selection of necklaces, bracelets, rosaries and fabric bags. The prices range from $5 to $20. All proceeds go directly back to the young women at St Monica’s and the Tree of Wisdom children. Beads can be purchased through me 440-949-9066 or at my office at 440-930-4955.
Wisdom beads make excellent gifts and support a great cause.
God bless you all!
Monique

Hi Monique,
Do you have a necklace about 30 inches (I’ve got a fat neck) in any shades of blue or green? Call me at your convenience: 933-9437 and I’ll pick it up at your office. Also I’d like more info on supporting a child.
Thanks,
Doris
Hi Doris,
I have not reviewed the comments recently. Sorry it took so long.
I have a teal necklace about that length at the office that I think you would like very much.
If you go to the “Help the children” page. It gives the process.
Basically it’s $150 per year to adopt an orphan.
I can send you a letter if you like.
Thanks for your support! Monique
Hi Monique,
I received a necklace as a Christmas gift. Now that’s what Chirstmas is all about. I wear my necklace with great pride knowing I was able to help a child a little (very little bit). I have a multi-colored one that is very beautiful. I love, love, love!!!
Hi- I worked for Invisible Children in 2008 and bought a large ammount of beads back from St. Monica’s. I would like to buy a small craft for my wedding favors (wire stars or small etc.) in order to support the woman of Gulu- do you know where I might do that? Or if I can purchase from you? Thanks, Sarah
